“I have found the experiences that come with tackling the unknown and the potential for achievement far outweighs the possibility of failure.”
Kiko Matthews
Challenge seeker and Adventurer
After watching “Losing Sight of Shore,” a film about six women who make history as they set out to row across the Pacific Ocean from America to Australia, I became fascinated by anyone who would be daring enough to row an ocean. I stumbled across Kiko Matthews on Instagram. Kiko will be attempting to set a world record by becoming the fastest women to row solo across the Atlantic starting January 2018.
Kiko, who survived a rare and life-threatening condition, has made it her goal to spend her life pursuing meaningful experiences and inspiring others along the way. She’s raising money for King’s College Hospital, who saved her life in 2009. Kiko, who has never before rowed, decided to take on this challenge.
The row across the Atlantic is 3000 miles and she’s planning to do it in 45 days – 11 days faster than the current record of 56. Obviously, Kiko isn’t afraid to take on new adventures and challenges and shows that physical limitations or other obstacles are not excuses.
